3) Read the New York Times editorial “The Child in the Basement” by David Brooks
a. Which “reading” of “Omelas” that Brooks proposes, if any, do you agree with? What is your take on the child in the basement? What about those who walk away?
b. “Life is filled with tragic trade-offs,” writes Brooks. What in your life is only convenient or enjoyable because of others’ sacrifices?
